The Philly Curiosa show has been one of my most emotional concert experiences. I was tired. I got there after driving 300 miles (DC to Hershey then to Philly) with 4 hours' sleep from the previous night. I was lost for about 2 hours as Route 76 was shut down and I had to exit earlier. I was sad. I failed to bring my camera into the venue. I was hungry. All I had for dinner were two chocolate bars taken from Hershey and a bottle of water bought inside for a shocking $4. However, one thing overcomes all: I saw The Cure. I watched them open with Plainsong, with rainbow lights spinning around and getting blurred, as my tears poured down. I watched them play Shake Dog Shake, Anniversary, Jupiter Crash, Disintegration, and Faith, all of which first time live to me. The "The Cure Please Play in China" banner was displayed for a fourth time. And I drove another 150 miles home after the show. Comparing to the guitar problems at Coachella and sickening crowd at HFStival, the Philly Curiosa should be the best Cure show I have ever been to. |
